    April 2007 - Approximately one in every 500 young adults in the United States today has survived childhood cancer. To meet the needs of this population, in 2005 Kevin C. Oeffinger was appointed Director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's new Program for Adult Survivors of Pediatric Cancer.
  • Combination Therapy Found Less Effective Than Expected in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
    April 2007 - An international Phase III clinical trial has demonstrated that the addition of bevacizumab (Avastin®) to standard oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy improves progression-free survival for patients with previously untreated metastatic colorectal cancer, although the improvement was more modest than had been expected.

    April 2007 - Gliomas are a notoriously difficult to treat form of brain cancer, often developing resistance to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. But now, Memorial Sloan-Kettering researchers have found a way in the laboratory to make these stubborn cancer cells more sensitive to the lethal effects of radiation by tinkering with the proteins governing this resistance.
