Monica Morrow
Chief, Breast Service in the Department of Surgery

Surgical oncologist Monica Morrow has joined Memorial Hospital as Chief of the Breast Service in the Department of Surgery and holds an appointment in Memorial Sloan-Kettering as Member, Memorial Hospital. She is also a co-leader of the Breast Disease Management Team. Dr. Morrow comes to Memorial Sloan-Kettering from Fox Chase Cancer Center, where she had served for four years as Chair of Surgical Oncology with a clinical practice dedicated to the treatment of breast cancer. Her research has been centered on how to apply the advances from clinical trials to daily surgical practice. She is currently studying the way treatment choices for breast cancer surgery are made -- including medical decisions as well as the factors that are important to women when making treatment choices, how well they understand their choices, and the level of conflict they experience with their surgeon.

Dr. Morrow is the surgical editor of the textbook Diseases of the Breast and a co-author of Breast Cancer for Dummies. She received her MD degree in 1976 from Jefferson Medical College and completed residencies at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont and a fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. In January 2009, Dr. Morrow will become the incumbent of the Anne Burnett Windfohr Chair of Clinical Oncology.
